Chokecherry Farm is an off-grid small farm on the outskirts of Crestone, CO. It is nestled among 100 year old acequias, abandoned buildings, and wild chokecherries. We offer a Community Supported Agriculture Program (CSA), eggs, turkeys, honey and beeswax, bakery products, and soon will be offering dairy products, plus much more. We saw our own lumber, work with small draught horses, generate our own electricity, use the sun for our hot water, practice active desert forestry, believe in practicing many of the traditional homesteading crafts, and are in the process of building a pilot biogas digester/compost tea greenhouse facility to serve both the energy and fertilizer needs of this intensive micro-farm.
We offer courses in Permaculture and other topics, please see our Course Offerings.
"We also host immersion internships where people interested in gaining hands-on experience in sustainable living can live, work, and learn in these ways. We are currently accepting applications for people that are: dedicated, hard-working, honest, flexible, have a sense of humor, and are comfortable working independently. Send letters of intent via our contact page and please include interests, relevant skills (if any), and why you would be interested in committing to a six month internship."
